The leaves are wisps in the wind
So young and new and light
Fluttering about without a care
And all the world seems right
Flashes of green and yellow
As they turn in their sprightly dance
A breeze so light and crisp
Adds to Spring’s romance
The wind belies the storm ahead
That tests the little leaves
In the sky there looms a shadow
That will change their life of ease
Their movement spins erratically
As the wind blows brisk and strong
The storm comes in and threatens life
Bending the branches long
But just as quickly the storm abates
And the leaves shine with drops of dew
They are stronger and more beautiful
Colored in a brighter hue. ©
